About Us:
We are user-led and representative, with 60% of our charity’s Board of Trustees, 75% of our staff, and 75% of our volunteers coming from the communities we serve.
We think of everyone as members of our community, whether beneficiaries, volunteers, staff, or trustees.
Our motto is: “We’re all of equal worth”
Our Charity’s Team
We are a team of 5 staff members, 15 regular volunteers, and 5 trustees working together to deliver activities and services, support the community, and achieve Access Dorset’s mission to empower disabled people, older adults, neurodivergent people and their carers through inclusive support, activities and skills development that improve wellbeing, build resilience and help them participate more fully in community life.

Our Volunteers
We actively involve a diverse range of volunteers from across our community to help strengthen our charity and expand our services. This includes trustees with expertise in areas such as finance, social care, the arts, marketing, and fundraising.
15 regular volunteers, over 75% from the communities we serve, contribute more than 2,100 hours annually to our charity and community.
We also welcome volunteers from corporate partners and our local community to contribute to specific projects, bringing valuable skills, experience, and fresh perspectives to our work.
Whether you can offer a single day or commit to regular weekly hours, we’d be delighted to hear from you, as we are always looking to welcome new volunteers.

Don't just take our word for it!
Horizon Community Cafe at The Bridge
Our Horizon community cafe is open to everyone four days a week from Monday-Thursday.
The cafe supports vocational training placements for Access Dorset members to gain experience in a variety of roles, including taking orders, preparing meals, snacks and drinks.
Whether you’re coming through for one of the many activities on offer at The Bridge, or if you’re just popping in for a tea, you’ll be greeted by one of our amazing volunteers.
